What is Testing and Me?

Testing and Me is a 3D virtual experience designed to help you feel prepared for any medical tests or scans you may have at a hospital. It allows you to travel around a virtual hospital* and visit different rooms to learn about some commonly used medical tests and scans, including:

  • Magnetic resonance imaging scans (also known as MRI scans)
  • Computed tomography scans (also known as CT scans)
  • X-rays
  • Ultrasounds
  • Endoscopies
  • Biopsies
  • Samples, such as blood or urine samples

How Testing and Me can help you?

  • Preparing for your appointment: learn about what you may need to do ahead of the test or scan – for example, you may need to follow rules about what to eat or drink, or you may find it easier to wear certain clothes to your appointment
  • On the day of the appointment: get an idea of what happens when you’re at the hospital, from when you arrive to when you leave again afterwards
  • After the appointment: learn about what you may need to do after the test or scan is over – for example, it may be that you can leave the hospital straightaway, or you may expect to stay for a while after to make sure you are feeling fine
  • Understand how the tests and scans work: if you’ve ever wondered how tests and scans allow us to see inside the body, then you can find information on how the science works

Please note, information found within Testing and Me has been shared as a guide to help you understand what to expect when having medical tests or scans; it should not replace conversations with a healthcare professional. Your doctor is usually the best person to speak to if you have any questions regarding your specific situation.
